Just four steps to your concatenated file
- Create a project
- Add files
- Choose the destination-folder
- Start concatenate
Create projects
Within the project-table you can create as many projects as you like. Each project results into a single file, which will be created using the choosen files. To create a project, just click the "+"-button. To remove a project, press the "-"-button.
Name of project (resulting file)
The filename of the resulting file is determined by the project-name. To change the name, perform a double-click on the project whose name you want to change and enter a new name.

Adding files
To add files to your project you can either click on the "+"-button below the files-table and choose files from the appearing file-selection-menu or add files simply by drag'n drop (for example from Finder) to the files-table. Alternatively you can also choose a folder with files, all files in the selected folder will be added to the files-table. Please read the next section for more information about adding folders to the files-table.
Files with different file-extensions
Easy-Cat automatically checks file-extensions of files added to a project. All files of a single project needs to have the same file-extension. When adding additional files, those will only be added if the file-extension matches the file-extension of already added files. When adding a folder to an empty project, Easy-Cat detects which file-extension occurs most and chooses this.
Note: Easy-Cat can process projects with more than 3000 files. However, so many files will not concatenated into a single file, but only as many files as possible are concatenated. This leads to several files in the final result. An appropriate warning will appear in the program if more than 3000 files are added to a single project. For example, 8000 files are now grouped in three end files. These can also be concatenated to get a single large file.
Change order of files
The order of files within a project is determined by the order you added files to the project. You can alter the order of files by moving the files using drag'n drop within the files-table.
Which kinds of files are supported
Easy-Cat you can concatenate files with uncompressed and unencrypted contents.
- plain text-files (txt, html, css and other source-files)
- MPEG-Video-files (uncompressed Video-Data)
- Wave-Audio-files (uncompressed Audio-Data)
Choose destination-folder
To choose the destination-folder, click on the path-bar and select from the appearing file-selection-menu a folder where to save the concatenated files to. Easy-Cat determines the remaining disc-space and displays it below the path-bar. Next to this you'll find the required disc-space, so you can check if there is enough disc-space available.
The setting of the destination-folder is saved automatically and will be preselected on the next start of Easy-Cat.
Error-Message
If the destination-folder doesn't exist, a error-message next to the path-bar will be displayed. In this case, you need to set a new destination-folder first before you can start concatenating files.
Start Cat
To start concatenate your projects, click on the button "Start Cat". A sheet with proceeding-infos will be displayed. When concatenate of all projects is finished, if the app is in background, you'll get a visual and audial signals that Easy-Cat has finished its tasks.
Aborting cat
While concatenating you have the option to abort the concatenate-process by clicking the "Cancel"-button. Depending on the size of the files to concatenate the abortion-process can take a few moments. When the abortion is complete, Easy-Cat will display a message.
